Good morning Mommy and Daddy! I weigh 1330 grams (2 lb 14.9 oz) today, down 40 grams (1.4 oz) from yesterday's weight. I gained an average of 21.4 grams (0.8 oz) per day over the past 7 days. How about this weight gain? Did you ever know anyone who gained so well?
I received feedings by pump yesterday at a rate of 9.0-9.5 ml/hr and I received a total amount of 217 ml (7.3 oz) for the day. I took all my milk by tube. I really appreciate all the breastmilk you are giving me. As the saying goes "Breast is Best"!! Since yesterday morning, I pooped once around noon.
As of 4 AM, I was on a mechanical ventilator with 35% oxygen. I had no apnea/bradycardia spells yesterday, and I've had 1 so far today. My nurses and doctors say that these spells are so common in premies that they'd be surprised if I wasn't having the spells.

Mommy checked with the nurse and I can wear clothes now. How handsome do I look now? This should work wonders for the ladies. Only problem is I feel like I'm robbing the isolette. You gotta move me to a room with babies more my age.

I can't figure out when my next feeding will be, so check with my nurse. I know it's hard to pump Mom, but please keep working on this -- it really helps me. Since yesterday morning, I pooped once around 4 PM.
My last bilirubin was 0.2 on 4/24 at 5 AM and that's just where the level should be.

I can't figure out when my next feeding will be, so check with my nurse. I'm so glad you're giving me breastmilk -- it's the best food for me! Since yesterday morning, I pooped once around 8 PM.

Status update
Ok so this is where I'm at. I haven't been having a good couple of days. What they didn't tell you is that my oxygen requirement went up to 100% last night. It was very scary. All of the doctors and nurses were huddled around me and another tube went down my throat. Thankfully it was just temporary to suction me real good. They started me on my third full dose of steroids. Fourth if you count my 2 day dose.
I'm still on the ventilator even though the tube isn't in my mouth. They give me breaths as I need it through my nose. My infection is getting much better, but I'm still on the antibiotics.it seems like gaining weight is the one thing that I do well.
Mommy told me that she snuck Emily in yesterday and she was able to see my box. I can't wait till my lungs get better and I can move across the hall and see her for real.

My first bath
When mommy and daddy came tonight the nurse gave them strict instructions. No more baby wipes, I'm getting a really bath, with water. It was more like a sponge bath rather than getting into a tub, but I got a real bath! Good thing too because the nurse was telling them how I was getting stinky. That can't be good for making new friends or picking up chicks. Oo I feel much better now that I'm clean.

I hit the 3 lb mark tonight. I cheated just a little today because they gave me a blood transfusion. But I actually went on a real scale because my new home doesn't have a scale built in.

In da club
Tonight for my birthday the nurse took me out clubbing. Mommy gave me a bath and got me nice and clean. Then the nurse got me dressed and we went out. There's this underaged bar with some sweet chicks. But you know the rules, no shoes, no shirt, no service. Well thanks to mommy's friend Margorie I got threads so I could hit the clubs.
Check out the pictures. I was getting down with the ladies so I popped open my shirt to show them my manly chest. No hair yet though :(
The nurse even bought me my first shot, a pacifier with a shot of milk. I'm not a heavy drinker so I was passed out in seconds. Mommy please bring me some Advil in the morning for this headache.

Happy 2 month birthday to me
So I've made it 2 months in this box. They tell me I should be moving to a different one soon. I don't know what hoops I have to jump through for that but please change this scenery. I know I couldn't even open my eyes for the first week but now I'm getting tired of this.
I thought I'd take some time to thank you all, my faithful following. I can't thank you enough for you positive thoughts and prayers. That's what's making me stronger.
To my Mommy and Daddy who come to visit everyday without fail. I miss you when you're not here.
I also love the visits from my grandparents. Grandma, Poppy, Nana and Papa, when are you going to start spoiling me. I'm told that's what grandparents do.
Uncle John, Aunt Karla, Uncle Gerald, Aunt Karen, and Uncle Kevin, you guys are the best for coming to visit me on a regular basis. I know you guys are busy and I can't really entertain you much, but its nice for me to see my family and get to know your voice and loving touch. I'm so lucky to have wonderful, loving aunts and uncles.

Good morning Mommy and Daddy! I weigh 1210 grams (2 lb 10.7 oz) today, up 10 grams (0.4 oz) from yesterday's weight. I gained an average of 11.4 grams (0.4 oz) per day over the past 7 days. Not a bad weight gain, but maybe I can do a little better.

I received feedings by pump yesterday at a rate of 7.8 ml/hr and I received a total amount of 187 ml for the day. A fluid oz is about 30 ml so this is about 6.3 oz. I took all my milk by tube. My last feeding was at 7 AM. I can't figure out when my next feeding will be, so check with my nurse. I'm so glad you're giving me breastmilk -- it's the best food for me! Since yesterday morning, I pooped 3 times and the last time was around midnight.
As of 5 AM, I was on a mechanical ventilator with 45% oxygen.

Little devil
Daddy and I are watching the Devils game. Mommy yells at daddy every time he jumps up thinking they are going to score. When daddy jumps up he yanks on my cords and hoses but I do not mind I too want the Devils to win. They are losing 1 nothing right now.

And I call this my swimming pose. Look one arm up, the other under and kick with your leg out to the side. Whistle blows and go! I was a pro at swimming around inside Mommy's belly but this is the first time I've tried in almost 2 months. It's a lot different without a cord attached to you.

I'm starting to do better in terms of my weight, but I think I'll check with my nurses and doctors and see if they can help me gain some more.

Go Yankees!
Mommy dropped me off a blanket from her favorite New York team to celebrate their home opener. As soon as she placed it on my crib my oxygen levels went high and I started breathing better. They were able to lower my oxygen requirement. Mommy was just going to leave it up for the picture but the nurses liked it so much they said to leave it there.

Daddy was able to hold me again tonight. This time he opted for out of his shirt. I guess I pulled too many hairs the last time. Look at him. Isn't he a natural? I'm his first son you know. Remember how small I am now Daddy because before you know it you'll be tossing a ball around with me.

Mommy spiked my pacifier
Tonight after Aunt Karen and Uncle Kevin visited my parental units gave me a bath. Mommy swabbed my mouth and spiked my pacifier with the good stuff. Mmm that milk was yummy!

I've decided to try to gain a little faster, so see if you can sneak me a milkshake and a slice of pepperoni pizza (ha! ha!).
I received feedings by pump yesterday at a rate of 7 ml/hr and I received a total amount of 168 ml for the day. A fluid oz is about 30 ml so this is about 5.7 oz. I took all my milk by tube. My last feeding was at 7 AM. I can't figure out when my next feeding will be, so check with my nurse. I really appreciate all the breastmilk you are giving me. As the saying goes "Breast is Best"!! Mommy came in today and couldn't wait to get to work. Of course she started with some oral motor stim and she had me sucking in no time. Mm that milk was yummy. Give me more.
Opening Day
I am all set for opening day. Lets go Mets. My nurse today is a big Mets fan so I am in good hands. She said she was going to sneak in a TV so we can watch the game. Let's see if the Mets can win me a game.

A day of firsts
Today was the first time that Daddy got to hold me. His chest is all hairy. Daddy said it hurts cause I pull his hair. Sorry. Mommy told Daddy to talk to me. He said not right now because I'm concentrating on holding him. I made Daddy all wet from my drool. Now you know what it feels like Daddy.
Today was also the first time that I cried. No its not because I'm afraid of Daddy. And of course crying is contagious just like yawning. Because when Mommy heard me she cried too.

Day 49
Good morning Mommy and Daddy! I weigh 1020 grams (2 lb 4.0 oz) today, unchanged from yesterday's weight. I gained an average of 5.7 grams (0.2 oz) per day over the past 7 days. I'm moving in the right direction weight-wise, and maybe I'll surpise you tomorrow.
I received feedings by pump yesterday at a rate of 6.8-7 ml/hr and I received a total amount of 167 ml for the day. A fluid oz is about 30 ml so this is about 5.7 oz. I took all my milk by tube. My last feeding was at 7 AM. I can't figure out when my next feeding will be, so check with my nurse. I know it's a lot of work Mom, but keep on pumping! I'm worth every drop! I haven't pooped since yesterday morning, and the last time I went was around 6 AM on 4/3. It's no big deal if I don't poop everyday, so don't worry about this.
As of 4 AM, I was on a mechanical ventilator with 32% oxygen.
Adios Mommy and Daddy. Bring a camera with you the next time you visit so that you can show me off to all our friends and family.

Day 48
Good morning Mommy and Daddy! I weigh 1020 grams (2 lb 4.0 oz) today, down 30 grams (1.1 oz) from yesterday's weight. I gained an average of 5.7 grams (0.2 oz) per day over the past 7 days. When I sleep, I dream of Oreo cookies...... :) See if you can convince my nurse to give me a few!

I can't figure out when my next feeding will be, so check with my nurse. Mommy, you should be proud of yourself for pumping breastmilk for me -- it's just great! Since yesterday morning, I pooped once around 6 AM.
As of 7 AM, I was on a mechanical ventilator with 42% oxygen.

I can breathe!
Notice anything different? I'll give you a hint look at my mouth. They took out that awful tube. The vent is almost gone! I can breathe!
Day 47
Good morning Mommy and Daddy! I weigh 1050 grams (2 lb 5.0 oz) today, down 40 grams (1.4 oz) from yesterday's weight. I gained an average of 24.3 grams (0.9 oz) per day over the past 7 days. I'm getting bigger and bigger day by day. Pretty soon I'll need some new clothes. Be sure to get me some good looking stuff!

Feels like home
I was so calm and relaxed after mommy left yesterday that I forgot to post this picture. Mommy came to visit me by herself! She drove for the first time since the surgeries to come and visit me. We had some special alone time. The nurse broke me out of this joint and mommy held me for a long time. The doctor even came to see because I was doing so good. All of my levels were perfect! Mommy, maybe the nurses will let you hold me every day.
Walking
Today they have me trying to walk. I can only do it if I hold onto daddy's finger. This is hard. Why can't I just sleep?
Day 46
Good morning Mommy and Daddy! I weigh 1090 grams (2 lb 6.4 oz) today, up 50 grams (1.8 oz) from yesterday's weight. I gained an average of 21.4 grams (0.8 oz) per day over the past 7 days. How about this weight gain? Did you ever know anyone who gained so well?
